Auckland Beats Wellington

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. June 6. Playing very soundly on a muddy field, Auckland today comfortably b’at Wellington. 3-1. in a game which was classed as an Olympic trial. Auckland was clearly superior. Wellington, although individually effective, failed to summon any degree of attacking drive. M. Wallan <2) and G. McGregor scored for Auckland, and R. Weetman for Wellington.

Wallan played his best game for Auckland, and M. Smith, at centre half, was the most constructive player on the field. R. Weetman and N. Adams were the best of a Wellington side that played in a defensive mould, particularly with Its half-lino. Wellington scored first, with Auckland equalising before halftime after losing many opportunities, and adding two further goals in the second half.
