Hockey N.Z. OLYMPIC TEAM
Players For Final Trial
After the representative hockey match between Auckland and Wellington played at Auckland yesterday, the secretary of the New Zealand Hockey Association (Mr E. S. Hobson) announced two teams to take part in the Olympic trial match at Masterton next Saturday. The teams have been chosen by the sole New Zealand selector (Mr E. G. McLeod, of Auckland'.
The players chosen for the Olympic Games will be announced by the president of the New Zealand Olympic and British Empire Games Association (Mr H. I. Austad) in Wellington next Monday. Five Canterbury players have been chosen for the final trial, and all of them have represented New Zealand before. They are J. Abrams, M. McKinnon. N. Hobson, R. Gillespie and J. Kiddey. The teams are:—
First team: W. Schaeffer (Wairarapa', J. Abrams (Canterbury'. B Johnstone (Wellington) ,J. Palmer (Auckland), B. Turner (Manawatu), J. Barclay (Waipa), M. McKinnon (Canterbury). N. Hobson (Canterbury), W. Percival (Wellington). K. Percy (Wairarapa), M. Mathieson (Wellington), P. Bygrave (Auckland). Second team: G. McGregor (Wellington), B. Whineray (Auckland). I. Prangnell (Otago), R. Gillespie (Canterbury), J. Cullen (Otago), R. Lapworth (Wellington), B. Willis (Wellington). A. Hayde (Auckland', G. McGregor (Auckland), J. Kiddey (Canterbury). M. Wallan (Auckland), T. Blake (Whangarei).
