Chess SI. TOURNEY O. Sarapu Wins
In a fine exhibition of skill, the reigning national champion, Ortvin Sarapu, won the South Island chess championship in Christchurch yesterday. Sarapu played A. Feneridis in the final round, and a draw was agreed upon after 21 moves. This gave Sarapu a win in the championship by half a point from Feneridis. Results in the fifth round were:— A Section: O.
