NEWCASTLE, April 11. The Australian Labour Party candidate, a former New South Wales policeman, Mr A. W. James, has won the by-election for the Hunter seat in the House Of Representatives with at least MOO votes more than his nearest irval Mr James, today, had polled 31.573 votesand his nearestrival, Mr R. Brown (Independent Labour) had attracted 11.723 votes.
