GO-KART DRIVER INJURED

A 54-year-old grandmother and mother of 15 children suffered an arm injury when her go-kart got out of control on a bend on a track at Prebbleton yesterday afternoon, struck a bale of straw, and overturned on top of her. She is Mrs Doreen May Stevens, of 25 Woodward avenue, Mangere, Auckland. Mrs Stevens was competing in the third heat of the 16-race first provincial go-kart contest to be held between Auckland and Canterbury. She was a member of the Auckland team. Mrs Stevens was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital. Mrs Stevens’s husband is president of the Auckland club.
