BOOKINGS FOR TEST
Preferential Sales
More than 2000 seats were sold yesterday for the uncovered stands at Lancaster Park for the third Rugby test between the British Isles and New Zealand.
Because preferential bookings do not finish until 8.30 p.m. today the public will have to wait untii Monday before the remaining seats in the stands are made available. Bookings for seats in the enclosure will open tomorrow.
Although no accurate estimate can be given at this stage it seems that about 4000 seats in the stands and enclosure will be available to the public. As patrons are still able to reserve fcur seats approximately 1000 are assured of success.
The president of the Canterbury Rugby Union (Mr H. C. Blazey) said yesterday that the New Zealand Rugby Union had directed that seats be made available to unions elsewhere in New Zealand. Most of the unions had applied and the unions closer had received more seats than those further away. All clubs, unions, and subunions had taken their full quota of seats for the test, something that was not done for the Canterbury game.
