More Copper Men Out

BUTTE (Montana), August 19. Miners and smeltermen at the Anaconda Company, one of the largest copper-producing firms in the world, struck today after failing to negotiate a new contract with their employers. The strike involved about 5600 members of the International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers in Butte, Grand Falls and East Helena in Montana, and Tooele in Utah. Since June 30, when the old contract expired, the men have been working on * a day-to-day basis pending a new contracf. About 15,000 workers are already on strike against the other United States copper producers.
