SEARCH NEAR OXFORD

Three Persons Missing

Police and civilian search parties were being organised early this morning to start a search at daylight for a young woman and two young isen, believed lost in bushed and hilly country in the Mount Thomas area near Oxford. It was snowing and very cold in the area shortly after midnight.

The names of the three persons who went on a shooting trip in the area were not available at 1 a.m. A truck they used for transport was found by an Oxford search party late last inght. The three left Christchurch yesterday to go shooting in the Oxford area, and when they did not call in to see relatives in Oxford, a search was made for the truck they were travelling in. The truck was found in the Mount Thomas area.

Constable Theyers, of Oxford, was arranging last night for civilian parties to start searching from Oxford and from Lees Valley at daylight. It is thought that the missing persons are near the Blowhard track.

A police party from Christchurch headed by Sergeant M. Ryan was expected to leave early this morning to join the Oxford search party.
