RUGBY PLAYER KNOCKED OUT

Forward Ordered Off Field

(New Zealand Press Association) PALMERSTON NTH., July 5.

An Old Boys senior Rugby player, G. Hermanson, aged about 19 years, was knocked out during a match against Technical Old Boys at Palmerston North on Saturday afternoon. The referee, Mr F. G. M. Parkinson, immediately ordered B. Whaitiri, a Technical Old Boys lock forward, to the sideline.

As Whaitiri walked across to the sideline the knees of Hermanson sagged and he pitched forward on to his face. He was still unconscious when he was carried from the field on a stretcher.

By the time the game had finished, 15 minutes later, Hermanson was able to walk from the ground. He had an uglylooking bruise spreading right across one cheek.

A police sergeant and constable later spoke to officials of the union.
