BORSTAL CLERK'S THEFT

£lO2 Stolen From Safe At Arohata (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. July L A Justice Department clerk, John Sylvan Harrison, aged 58, was sent to prison for six months by Mr B. S. Barry, SJkf., when he appeared for sentence in the Magistrate’s Court at Wellington today. Harrison was charged with stealing £lO2 5s lOd in cash from the safe of the Arohata Borstal Institution while employed there on clerical duties. The Magistrate said Harrison had stolen the money while in a position of trust He did not impose prison penalties lightly, but be would have to send Harrison to prison.
