AWAPUNI WORK
Resemblance Very Fit "Th* Prist” Special Service PALMERSTON N., March 3. The Autumn Handicap candidate. Resemblance, gained admirers for his engagement on Saturday when he galloped six furlongs at Awapuni this morning. He was much too good for Modernise, and is a very fit horse. Diadochi and Cordage were others to please their admirers. The work was divided between the No. 1 grass and the plough, and both were in excellent order. Working on the plough. Resemblance and Modernise went away from about the mile, but the pace was not on until reaching the six furlongs. From here they ran the first three furlongs in 37 l-ssec and came home in 43 l-ssec, to return Imin 20 2-ssec, with Resemblance well clear. He is obviously a very fit horse. Camp Out was doing his work nicely ahead of Brookside when he ran a mile in Imin 49 2-ssec, the first three furlongs in 41 3-ssec, five in Imin 8 l-ssec, and the last three in 41 l-ssec. Camp Out has stood up to his racing remarkably well. Another pair to go over a mile were Rubicon and On the Wing. They ran the distance in Imin BOsec, the first three furlongs in 40 2-Bsec, five in Imin Bsec, and the last three in 42sec, with Rubicon going very nicely. Savage and Red Stripe left six furlongs behind in Imin 20sec. the last three in 41 3-ssec. Red Stripe is a model of fitness. Savage, as usual, did not exert himself. Ruby Marie and Figurine ran five furlongs in Imin 8 l-ssec, the last three in 43sec. Figurine will not start at Trentham, but may go to Napier Park. Royal Mother sprinted half a mile in S3sec after running the first furlong in 13 3-ssec. Naughty was not extended to stay with Royal Vintage over five furIpngß In-Txtaln I 8 l-Ssec, the last three in 42 l-ssec. Naughty has rarely looked better. Diadochi was sent six furlongs with Golden Road bringing him home the last four. He ran the first two furlongs in 26 2-ssec, three in 39sec, and the last three in 41sec. He has done well and is obviously Improved. „ Cordage sprinted five furlongs in Imln 2sec, the last three In 38 3-Ssee. which was good going.
