MINGLOW FOR TRENTHAM
Attractive Trial At Wingatui
fffeu) 1 Zealand. Press Association) DVNEDIN, March 3. Minglow showed het fitness for her engagement in the Railway Handicap at Trentham on Saturday when she sprinted brilliantly at Wingatui this morning. Her stablemate, Matter David, who is engaged In the twomlle Autumn Handicap, also recorded a sound trial. These two members of G. B. Thomson’s team will lepva for Trentham tomorrow. Minglow (E. E. O’Brien) ran half a mile in 49 4-ssec, the last three furlongs in 38sec and she did it Well. This was a particularly bright performance with the trestles halfway out on the course proper. Minglow was a disappointing runner in the open sprint at Wingatui on Saturday, but that effort was well below her true form. At Trentham in January, Minglow did not do Well. She was at Trentham a week before she raced and this did not suit her. This time she will arrive a day before the meeting. Master David (R. A. Low) Was giving Believe Me (B. E. Kennedy) three lengths start on the home turn, but he finished on to get practically In line with his companion at the end of a mile in imin 50sec, after running the opening half mile in 54 2-ssec.
Master David is not usually a good track worker and under the circumstances this was a good effort. E. E. O’Brien will ride Minglow and Master David in their Trentham engagements. Salisbury (J. Wells) and Sea Wings (E. O’Brien) shaded Sunair (R. J. Skelton) over half a mile on the plough in 53sec, the last three furlongs in 40sec.
Salisbury and Sea Wings are due to resume racing at the Cromwell meeting. Sea Wings has not raced for two years, but her most recent track work has been encouraging. Mfary Dee (B. P. Kennedy) was notFout for time when she finished with Wildsir (R. J. Skelton) ahead of New Bridge (G. E. Lowry) over the same ground in 54sec. Mary Dee WaS not produced at the Dunedin meeting, but there is nothing wrong with her condition.
Cassino (B. P. Kennedy) and Well Now (E. E. O’Brien) ran half a mile in 52 3-ssec, the opening furlong in 13sec.
Peter Jude (B. P. Kennedy) and Marie Ann (E. E. O’Brien) were not ridden out to record 56 2-ssec, the first furlong in 14sec. A three-year-old gelding by Callander, Peter Jude is due to have his first race at the Cromwell meeting. Pandean (H. T. Anderton), Depend (R. J. Skelton), and Red River (B. P. Kennedy) ran the opening furlong in 13 2-ssec, and completed half a mile in 55 2-ssec.
