Brevet Club Ball.—The annual Battle of Britain ball of the Canterbury Brevet Club was held at the Winter Garden recently. Mr L. Murray (president) and Mrs Murray received about 300 guests, assisted by Mr L. V. Etwell (secretary) and Mrs Etwell. Specially invited guests were Group Captain T. J. de Lange and Mrs de Lange, Squadron Leader A. Jacobsen and Mrs Jacobsen, and Mr Leo Aspell and Mrs Aspell. Roundels in red, white, and blue and designs of aircraft decorated the rooms. Mr W. M. Dowle, of Kaikoura, the five-hundredth member to join the club, received a presentation.
