Resignation Of Mrs E. Myers
The resignation of Mrs Elliot Myers, was received at the September meeting of the Christchurch branch of the Plunket Society held recently. Mrs Myers served on the society’s committee for many years and has been on the executive since 1953. Her name has been added to the honorary committee. The president (Mrs A. Rose) welcomed the secretary of the Fendalton sub-branch (Mrs A. -C. Perry) and the secretary of the Richmond sub-branch (Mrs E. M. Daglish) to the meeting. Mr M. C. Tipping was appointed auditor in place of Mr W. S. MacGibhon who has resigned after holding the position for many years.
The charge sister (Miss B. Helliwell) reported as follows for the month:—New baby cases, 289; Babies breast fed when first seen, 176; babies artificially fed when first seen, 87; visits of babies to Plunket rooms, 2928; visits to babies in homes, 1950. The matron of Karitane Hospital reported for the month as follows:—Mothers admitted 9, and babies 25; mothers discharged 13. and babies 27; twins admitted, 1 set; premature babies admitted, 14, and discharged, 8. Branches and sub-branches of the society were thanked for their donations to Karitane Hospital as follows: Fendalton £10; Geraldine £2O; Amberley £10; Kaiapoi £25; Mother’s Club Council £3O; and from Hanmer Springs £l5 for the Violet Day appeal. The appeal so far has raised £lBBO and thanks were extended to members of the public who had given to the fund.
