Cricket Body’s Opposition

Although none of its playing grounds would be affected by the proposed road link from Blenheim road through Hagley Park, the Canterbury Cricket Association opposed the scheme at a meeting of the management committee of the association last evening. “It is a question of principle and as a sports organisation we should oppose what affects the playing areas of other sports.” said Mr A. G. Williams.

“I y think we should confine our attitude to its effects on our playing fields or the playing fields of other sports. It does not affect our areas,” said the chairman (Mr C. F. Collins).

The association should oppose the road scheme on principle said Mr C. G. Crawford.
