INDENT AGENT’S TAX FRAUD

Fines Totalling £6OO Imposed (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 29. Fines totalling £6OO, together with £47 5s in solicitors’ fees and £l2 Court costs, were imposed by Mr J. R. Drummond, S.M., in the Lower Hutt Magistrate’s Court yesterday on Fred Rothschild, an indent agent, of Lower Hutt, on eight charges of wilfully making false returns of income. Rothschild pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was convicted and fined £75 op each charge. Mr J. D. Murray prosecuted and Rothschild was represented by Mr R. C. Savage.
