INTER-SCHOOL TOURNAMENT

Marlborough And Papanui

About 40 pupils from Marlborough College met pupils from the Papanui High School in the annual sports tournament played at Papanui yesterday. The Marlborough girls’ softball ♦earn had an easy win over Papanui by 25 to 11. Marlborough proved far stm«*rior in batting and fielding.

The tennis was more closely contested than it has been in previous vears. Marlborough won by 9 matches to 7.

In the cricket match. Marlborough had lost nine wickets for 114. but a ’ast-wieket stand by G. Jackson and R. Sutherland put on another 50 ”uns. Jackson did most of the scoring. Papanui began badly, losing six for 51. K. Smith and K. Walton, in a good partnership, carried the score ♦o 118 by the close of play. The match will continue today. Scores:— MARLBOROUGH
