Interprovincial Contest
The first official interprovincial contests for Canterbury women harriers may be arranged during the '*oming season. The Canterbury Cross-Country Running Management Committee at its meeting last evening decided to open negotiations with Auckland on the subject.
Unofficial races had taken place between the women harriers of Auckland and Canterbury, said Mr L. A: King, who moved that the harrier sub-committee of the Auckland centre should be asked if it was agreeable to having the exchangee put on an official basis. Such a meeting would hasten the introduction of a New Zealand championship race for women, said Mr King. The motion was approved. Canterbury is willing to arrange the first race but it is also preSared to travel to Auckland should le Auckland centre prefer that. The New Zealand championships would be held on a two-mile circuit at Invercargill this year, reported the chairman (Mr A Memory). This meant that seniors would run a little more than three laps for their race instead of the usual two. Juniors just over a lap and a half instead of once round the usual three and one-eighth mile circuit Registration Fees
Harriers will have to pay the following registration fees during the coming season: senior men Ils 6d, iunior men 9s colts 4s. seniof women (17 and over) 9s, intermediate women (15-17) 5s 6d. iunior women (under 15) free.
The fees for South Canterbury and Greymouth harriers was set at: seniors 7s 6d. juniors 6s. The fees for all grades except colts, are reducible by Is 6d if harriers are already registered with the New Zea'and Amateur Athletic Association through a track .club. Entry fees for inter-club races conducted by the committee were fixed as follows: senior men, junior men, senior women, 2s 6d; colts, intermediate women, junior women. Is. The following race sub-committees were apoointed:— Halswell: Messrs C. Ogle, L. A. King. K E. Williams. C. C. Gordon, R. Luke. Canterbury championships: Miss F. Perkins Messrs H. O. Savage, R. E. Coleman. M R. Craighead A. Memory. Luke, Ogle. Akaroa race: Messrs Memory. N. G. Hattaway Coleman. Savage, J. C. Daly. R. Stevens. Messrs Memory, Daly, W. A. Kennedy, and King were appointed a grading committee for inter-club races.
M Craighead was appointed as the delegate to the Canterbury Centre. N.Z.A.A.A
Centre representatives for interclub events conducted by clubs were appointed as follows: University relay, Mr R. Luke; Kennett Cup. Mr H. O. Savage; Anglican block relay, Mr A. Memory; Holloway Memorial. Mr M. R. Craighead; Bridle Path, Mr R. E Coleman; Kalapoi-Christchurch, Messrs N G Hattaway and W. A. Kennedy; Temuka-Tlmaru, Mr H. O Savage.
