Solo Events Decided

Solos were decided when the New Zealand brass bands’ championships were continued in Dunedin today. Results:—

E Flat Bass. —J. D. Carnson (Auckland Fire Brigade), 97 points, 1; D. C. Withell (Timaru) 96 points, 2; V. Abrahams (Lower Hutt Municipal) 94 points, 3.

Tenor Horn.—C. Bent (Wanganui Garrison), 93 points, 1; R. McGavin (Masterton) 92 points, 2; W. D. Borrie (Auckland Fire Brigade), J. D. Hughes (Invercargill Civic), and C. W. Simon (Lower Hutt Civic) 91 points, equal 3. Baritone.—C. Tregurtha (Invercargill Civic) 93 points, 1; A. H. Martin (Nelson Garrison) 91 points, 2; N. Taylor (Timaru) 88 points, 3. Bass Trombone.—A. Notifiable Diseases.— Four cases of infective hepatitis were reported to the Health Department for the Christchurch Health District for the week ended March 8. In the Greymouth district,there were five cases. There were three cases of pemphigus neonatorum and one of erysipelas in Christchurch. There was one death from tuberculosis, and one case in each district was reported.
