Net Profit £174,726 Net profit of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand, Ltd., rose by £16,086 to a record of £174,726 sterling in the year ended September 30, according to a preliminary statement. The result was struck after providing £150,000 for taxation, against £152,250 in the previous year. Dividend of 8 per cent., tax free, as forecast at the time of the bonus and cash issues in Septem. ber, 1956, requires £BO,OOO on the increased capital. During the past financial year two stock and station agency companies merged with National Mortgage—the 95-year-old Canterbury firm of H. Coles and Company, Ltd., chain-stores, broke all previous sales and profit records in the six months ended December 31. Directors yesterday declared an interim ordinary dividend of 4 per cent.—the first interim since last year’s 3-for-10 bonus share issue. Last year the company paid an interim of 5 per cent, before the bonus issue and a final of 7 2-3 per cent, after the bonus. In an accompanying interim report, directors said sales and profits for the past six months had shown an increase compared with the same period in 1956. Turnover of the group for the year ended June 30 last rose by 25 per cent. to a record £46,283,000, and profit rose from £1,364,011 to a new peak of £1,720,336. Ordinary dividend for the year took £1,025,144 and 8 per cent, preference £12,000. Bank N.S.W.—The Bank of New South Wales has declared an unchanged interim quarterly dividend of 9s per share (Australian currency), payable at the head office, Sydney, on February 28, 1958.
