The Session

Sir, —The opening day has arrived to usher in the Labour Government with the usual pomp and ceremony and a prayer that Christian ideals will prevail. The early session is mainly to legalise the £lOO rebate to those who are least needing it Previously the Labour Party considered it a great wrong to make the rich man richer, but as the Treasury Benches was their objective their viewpoint did not sustain. The less fortunate, despite the avowed sympathy for them, must wait indefinitely. The session will not be inspiring nor add prestige to our country.—Yours, etc., LIVE AND LET LIVE. January 21, 1958. -1
