Pope Grants First 1958 Audience

Pope Pius XII today granted his first two audiences of 1958, receiving the first of some million visitors and pilgrims who will come to the Vatican Palace from all over the world in the course of the year. Last year, the Pope received about 900,000 people in audience. Those received today were members of the Rome City Council, who were granted a special audience to give their New Year’s wishes to his Holiness. Later, he received several hundred people in a general audience.
