BLUE CLUB
Membership Of Eighty-Six The Christchurch Blue Beret Club was formed on October 17. 1956, and the current membership Was 86. including two life members—Mesdames M. Williamson and M. Lees—said the report presented to the first annual meeting of the club recently. During the year gifts had been made to the Burwood Hospital for Christmas gifts for the patients, to the Dr. Doris Gordon memorial fund, and to the fund for the memorial for former airmen in the Wellington Cathedral. said the report. The fees of a member, in a convalescent hospital, had been paid, and a gift of wood and coal had been made to a person not in good financial circumstances. Gifts had been given for the Aged Peoples’ Welfare Council stall, held in Cathedral square, and members had assisted with the strept collection. Mrs P. Thurston presented bouquets to the president (Mrs M. Williamson) and the secretarytreasurer (Mrs N. Bruce) as an expression of appreciation of their work during the year. Mrs Williamson, who was retiring from office, thanked members for their co-operation and loyalty, and gave a resume of the club’s activities during the last 12 months.
The following officers were elected:—Patron, Lady ClarkHall; president, Mrs N. Bruce: senior vice-president, Mrs M. Williamson; junior vice-president, Mrs P. Thurston; secretary-treas-urer, Mrs M. Randall; executive, Mesdames K. Almond, C. Corrigall, S. Dobson, J. Hall, J. Nuttall, L. Sturrock, F. White, Misses M. Meagher, J. Mould, and J. Weir.
