Woolston Sub-Branch Raises £4O
By holding a mannequin parade at the Ferry road R.S.A. Hall, the Woolston. sub-branch of the Plunket Society raised about £4O last evening for their candidate in the Plunket Queen Carnival. The Woolston Queen is Mrs Jean Simmonds, president of the subbranch.
The parade was held by courtesy of a manufacturing firm which makes swimsuits, sportswear, knitwear. skirts, lingerie and hosierv A wide varietv of styles was hown to advantage by five models. They were, Mesdames Shirley Mclntyre and Jill Simmonds, Misses Rena Treganza, Nola Campbell and Pat McDowall. The compere was Mrs Margaret Barrer. Highlights of the parade were the new fashion points shown in a preview of knitwear and skirts for next autumn. These featured the “tweedy-look” for cardigans and jumpers, bead embroidery for evening sweaters and checked tapered “trews” for informal wear.
Examination Pass.—Miss M. E. Middlewood (Christchurch) passed part I of the State physiotherapy examinations this year. Her name was omitted from the list of passes on Tuesday.
