Tamworth.
Although the pen facilities were excellent, the shed was too dark for the finer points of the animals to be assesed, said Mr H. J. Gannon, of Pukekohe, judge of the Tamworth and Berkshire sections. Mr Gannon said that most North Island shows accommodated pigs in the open, and the better light assisted the judges. He suggested that fluorescent lights at frequent intervals in the shed would be a great improvement.
The Tamworth section was good throughout, and would do justice to any North Island show, said Mr Gannon. “It is a long time since I have seen an animal as fine as Lincoln Occur, a sow entered by Canterbury Agricultural College. It is quite outstanding.” he said.
