Some styles were loose fitting to wear over costumes. Others were belted and confined large. 1 loose pleats lower than the waistline. Winter cherry and ice-blue were two of the most popular 1 colours. Tweedy effects with con-' trasting pockets, cuffs or collar linings were also featured in( several full length coats. i A range of spectator coats. 1 which are very much in the news! overseas, were ideally fashioned! for sport, watching football ini wintry weather,' or for cycling i One was heavy, yet soft material! with slip-in pockets and toggle! fasteners. A noticeable feature: was the spaciousness round the welted shoulder line, which gives strength and ease. A jacket of this style would be popular with golfers. Carnation Pink One carnation-pink raincoat was lined with rayon and fashioned to fit without being shaped into the waist. The white nylon which formed the collar does not absorb moisture, and stays warm. Large patch pockets had a flap to keep cut the rain. A hooded white duffel coat was lined with white, red and black plaid and was fastened with mahogany toggles. Another distinctive style was cut on mandarin lines in winter cherry, with a black Chinese motif printed on the material. A dark blue velvet corduroy collar was turned up in mandarin style at the throat.
One fashionably belted jacket caught the fullness of two inverted pleats at the hipline. This was in cinnamon brown with a white nylon fur collar. Most of the jackets were smartly finished with welted seams; some were stitched over the seams to give a smarter finish. All were attractively lined, with warm material in contrasing colours.
