AUSTRALIAN WOOL SALES
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) MELBOURNE, June 26. Values for medium to good-length combing fleece ruled in sellers’ favour at Melbourne wool sales today, compared with yesterday. Burry skirtings and short fleece were unchanged and still showed irregularly- _
With 11,600 bales offered, clearances, at approximately per cent., were reasonably satisfactory. The bulk of wool passed in was the burriest short skirtings, oddments, and lambs’ wool. Principal buyers were the Continent, the United Kingdom, and local mills.
Prices included: 115 d for good to super 60/64's; IOOd for good to super 56’s; 94d for good 56’s; 82d for good 50’s.
Brisbane’s Record Offering At Brisbane, wool sales today 24,116 bales—a record offering for a single day—were totally cleared. Competition was keen, with a widening demand from the Continent, supported by the "United Kingdom and Australian mills. Japanese buying was limited. Values tended to be firmer on yesterday for all but faulty type wools. The selection comprised the best to good topmaking types in good condition, and, with few exceptions, almost free of vegetable fault.
