SECOND DAY’S PROSPECTS

Benefactor For Main Race (From Our Own Reporter) BLENHEIM, May 2. With Chateau missing from the field. Benefactor will be strongly favoured to win the President’s Handicap, principal event and first leg of the double, on the second day of the Marlborough Racing Club’s annual meeting on Saturday. Although decisively beaten today, Benefactor v'as second by a good margin. Shoal raced far below her best today, but would only need to reproduce a performance in keeping with her Riccarton form to fully test Benefactor. Scuppered, which finished fourth today, Fulgent, and the newcomer, Belinquish, may do best of the others. The second leg of the double, the E. J. Harvey Handicap, will give Appreciate an opportunity to gain his second win at the meeting. Kiatoa and Vita Glow, which filled the minor places today, should again be prominent. Super Corn, the leader for a mile in the Marlborough Cup today, should be capable of running out this distance solidly, and may be placed.
