ENGLISH TOURNEYS

(N.Z. Press (Rec. 10 p.m.) SUTTON (Surrey), April 27. Bob Bedard, of Canada, won the men’s singles title in the Sutton hard court lawn tennis tournament today when he beat the holder Bob Howe, of Australia, 6-2, 6-1. Bedard played with tremendous confidence and was in no way troubled by Howe’s two-hahded drives. At Chingford, Essex, Jaroslav Drobny, making his first appearance of the English tournament season, won the men’s singles title in the Connaught hard court lawn tennis tournament. He proved much too strong for Michael Davies, Britain’s number one, in the final and won by 6-4, 6-3.
