QUICK REPLACEMENT OF DAMAGED PARTS

The Christchurch Public Hospital’s theratron, a cobalt therapy machine for the treatment of cancer, is expected to be in readiness for installation when the Canadian manufacturers’ engineer, Mr G. McCallum, arrives in Christchurch by air next week. Work began when the company’s Canadian technician; Mr A. Ashford, and the Sydney engineer, Mr C. V. Treloar, started unpacking the sensitive machine and replacing delicate parts damaged during unloading from the cargo vessel. City of Birkenhead, on November 16. Damage done was first indicated when the cases containing this huge instrument arrived at the hospital.
