LOST PROPERTY
Sir.—May I enter a plea on behalf of all those unlucky ones who lose handbags, wallets, etc. It is often a great hardship to loose the money, but there is real grief in the loss of personal mementoes. Letters, photographs or small souvenirs are of absolutely no value to strangers but can never be replaced by the owner. If the finders of lost articles think their need for money is great enough for them to keep their findings, at least they could post back the purely personal items. It is cruel to think of one’s mementoes, carried and treasured for years, now thrown in the rubbish.— Yours, etc., t TRAVELLER. January 17, 1957.
