N.Z. INSTITUTE OF HORTICULTURE
EXAMINATION RESULTS The following are the results of this years examinations conducted by the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture in horticulture, fruit culture, vegetable culture, and school gardening, both written and practical. Fifty-three candidates submitted themselves for examination, and 69 per cent, were credited with passes. The Cockayne gold medal for the candidate gaining the highest average marks in the diploma section of ♦he examinations has been awarded by the examining board to G. N. J. Goldie, of Levin.
The subjects in which passes have been gained by candidates are shown in parenthesis indicated by code numbers as follows:
Bookkeeping (1): horticultural botany (2); principles of plant protection (3); principles of botanical classification (4); principles of horticulture, stage I (5): stage II (6); practice of horticulture, stage I (7); stage II (8): special subject, stage I (9): stage II (10); oral and practical horticulture, stage I (11); stage IT (12); stage 111 (13): principles of fruit culture, stage I <14); practice of fruit culture, stage I (15): oral and practical fruit culture (16); business aspects of vegetable culture (17); soils and soil management (18): the plant and plant breeding (19): thesis (20).
