NAVAL VISITORS TO McMURDO
FLIGHT SOUTH ON FRIDAY (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 25. The Chief of Naval Staff (RearAdmiral J. E. H. Mcßeath) and the Director of Plans (Commander E. P. Reade) will see the old year out and the new year in down in the'Antarctic. The Navy Office announced yesterday that they would leave Wellington on Thursday for Christchurch, where they will board a United States Air Force aircraft flying to McMurdo Sound on Friday. The Chief of Naval Staff and Commander Reade are visiting the Antarctic at the invitation of the task force commander of the United States Antarctic expedition (Rear-Admiral George Dufek). They will be in the Antarctic for about 10 days.
