LEGAL AID
Sir,—A report in “The Press” today refers to a prisoner being given legal aid. The Legal Aid Act was passed by the House of Representatives as far back as 1939 by the Labour Government with the support of the Opposition party. Today, in 1956, we observe that legal aid is a special privilege to‘some, but still not a universal grant, as was intended.—Yours. ctc M PANEL OF COUNSEL. December 20. 1956.
