ROADS

Sir,—May I suggest that some national trust, society for the preservation of ancient monuments, or similar organisation should take over the pot-holes at the lower (Glandovey road) end of Bryndwr road, which in terms of antiquity appear already to have strong claims for preservation. Possibly the Mayor might be persuaded to pronounce them open to the public—which, indeed, they are! Further along Glandovey road, near Garreg road, is a more recent example of road-making felicity—a narrow trench, but with sharp edges and sufficiently deep to constitute a satisfying hazard to passing traffic. Eut it will be some years before this monument (if a trench can be so described) to the road-makers’ ingenuity acquires the cachet of an antique.—Yours, etc., M.T. December 21, 1956.
