eight endowments for MONTH Eight more children had been enrolled in the last month, it was reported at a meeting of the Canterbury and West Coast branch of the Crippled Children Society’s general committee recently. Mrs J. M. Miller-Mead, field officer, and Miss E. Iversen, transport officer, said they had travelled 2500 miles in the month taking children to and from hospital, clinics and swimming classes. Two events that had interested the children most were Miss Jean Stewart’s visit to their swimming classes and the meeting of 24 of the children with Group Captain Douglas Bader. Several gifts, including toys and a Picture painted by the grandfather of one of the children, had been made to the clinic. Other gifts were a virtually new knitting machine and a Convection heater. Presentations were made by the President 'Mr L. G. K. Steven) on bebalf of the committee to Mrs N. E. the retiring secretary, and Miss Iversen, who will soon be married. A new transport officer has been appointed and will begin duty in the New Year.
