NEW POST FOR MR MOLOTOV

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) MOSCOW, November 22. Mr Molotov, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Soviet Union, has been appointed Minister of State Control in succession to Mr Zhavoronkov.

This was announced last night by Tass. the official Soviet news agency, but it did not indicate whether Mr Molotov still retained his deputy premiership. No other appointment for Mr Zhavoronkov was announced.

The Ministry of State Control supervises the work of other Ministries, ensuring that Government decrees and instructions are carried out.

.In the early days of the Soviet regime. it also was instrumental in ensuring that party decisions adopted by the Political Bureau were obeyed by Government departments.
