REPLACEMENTS ARRIVE FOR SPRINGBOKS

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 5.

The two replacements for the South African Rugby team—J. Stark, a flank forward, and T. Briers, a wing three-quarter—arrived in Auckland tonight. They will leave tomorrow morning to join the Springbok team at Dunedin. Both stated that they were not yet match-fit.

“We haven’t had much chance to train, yet,” they said. Stark, however, had played one provincial match for his union. Western Province. Briers, a recently married farmer, has not had much match practice.

The reaction of the South African public to the Springboks’ performance so far was hard to judge, according to Stark. There did not seem to be any great criticism of the team’s record.
