APPROACHES TO LANCASTER PARK
Sir..—l wish to call the City Council’s attention to the unsatisfactory condition of the approaches to Lancaster Park, especially Lancaster street, in wet weather The path is full of lakelets and this condition is aggravated in one place by the overflow from a seemingly defective down-pipe. To the many thousands, including visitors, patronising Lancaster Park this year, these muddy paths are a poor advertisement for the city. The rough, broken metal spread on occasionally is not only unpleasant to walk on. but is no protection from the churned-up mud. Completely to seal the paths with a gentle slope would not cost much, and would earn the appreciation of all pedestrians.—Yours, etc.. C.A.S.
May 24, 1956. [The City Engineer (Mr E. Somers) saj's that the paths near Lancaster Park are all being cleaned up and most of them are already being done.]
