POLICE AWARD OF MERIT
WOMAN CONSTABLE HONOURED (New Zealand Press Association) „ r i., AUCKLAND, June 22. Constable Phillis Ann Gilmour, of the women’s division at Auckland Police Headquarters, today became the first policewoman to be awarded the certificate of merit in the New Zealand Police Force. She received the award from the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Mr Peter Munro). The citation said the award was made for exceptional zeal and ability exceeding that expected from zealous, efficient members of the force of her rank with similar opportunities."
