COLOMBO STREET CROSSING
Sir, —I agree that it would be a tragic mistake to go ahead with the Colombo street overbridge at the railway. That crossing should be closed to all but cyclists and pedestrians. The dverbridge should be at Montreal street. That would overcome much of the difficulty bus drivers have in fighting a way’ out of Colombo street against a stream of traffic in Moorhouse avenue, complicated by another stream coming over the railway. With a bridge coming down to Moorhouse avenue, bus drivers will probably give up the unequal struggle. A bridge at Montreal street would tie up with the sensible new proposal for a tunnel under Dyer’s Pass.—Yours, etc., PASSENGER, 5 P.M. March 12, 1956.
