BILL JOHNSTON RETIRES
(Rec. 8 p.m.) MELBOURNE, January 22. The former Australian test bowler, W. A. (Bill) Johnston, yesterday announced his retirement from first-class cricket. He said that his right leg, which had been troubling him for some time, had “gone” again. He would soon undergo an operation for the removal of a second cartilage from his knee.
