THREE NEW SCHOOL DISTRICTS
COMMITTEES TO BE ELECTED School committees will be elected next month for three new schools in Christchurch. The schools are in St. Martins, Burnside road and Banks avenue, Shirley. A public meeting of householders to elect the committee for the Banks avenue school will be held on February 14, for the Burnside road school on February 13; and on February 15 at the St. Martins school. As there are expected to be more than 200 enrolments for the Burnside road school when the first term opens on February 1, nine members will be elected on its committee. The Banks avenue and St. Martins schools, which are expected to have between 100 and 200 enrolments, will each have seven elected members. Nominations for the committees close with the Canterbury Education Board on February 7 for the Banks avenue school, February 6 for Burnside read, and February 8 for the St. Martins school. Householders present at the meetings can nominate any householder who has consented to nomination.
