TOURIST BUREAU LINK-UP

COMMUNICATION BY TELEPRINTER NEW SERVICE OPENS TODAY Tourist Department bureaux in : Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch 1 and Dunedin will be linked up by teleprinter from today. The inter-bureau teleprinter service ■ would speed up transmission of > reservations and would enable the '■ staff in each office to obtain routine : travel information much more quickly, ' said the district manager of the Tourist and Publicity Department ; (Mr W. A. Pickford) yesterday. “The link-up will be a big help in getting prompt replies to requests . for accommodation, particularly in . the busy season,” he said. “The . Christchurch bureau is in the central [ post office building, but in other towns much time has always been lost in ’ forwarding telegrams to the nearest ' post office and in waiting for delivery of replies by Post and Telegraph messengers.
