THEFTS WHILE POSING AS PILOT

PRISON AND PROBATION TERMS IMPOSED (New Zealand Press Association) NAPIER, November 23. A labourer who stole a Royal New Zealand Air Force officer’s uniform, masqueraded as a pilot, and committed theft in three Hawke’s Bay towns was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment and admitted to probation for 12 months with special conditions by Mr W. A. Harlow, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at Napier this afternoon. Raymond John Forde, aged 30, of no fixed abode, had been convicted yesterday on six charges of theft of goods of a total value of £63 7s 6d. Forde was young, came from a good family, and was talented, said the Magistrate. “You ought to be able to do better than a steward’s job,” he told him. “You are feeling sorry for yourself, but the time for that is past.” is on a hook-up with the Wellington ; office, the other with the Dunedin bureau.
