DEVELOPMENT LOAN
FIRST WEEK BRINGS £1,000,000
(New Zealand. Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 19.
“With the first £1,000,000 in hand the National Development Loan is away to a satisfactory start,” said the Minister of Finance (Mr J. T. Watts) today, announcing the latest returns. The sum subscribed up to the close of business yesterday was £1,054,730 from 474 applicants. “Considering that the loan was opened only a week ago today, this result is pleasing and will, I hope, encourage others to come forward without delay,” he said.
