TEAMS-OF-FOUR TITLES

(New Zealand Press Association) WANGANUI. August 29. Winners of the New Zealand Contract Bridge Association’s teams-of-four championships, which were held in Wanganui over the week-end. were Messrs B. C. Bell, R. Evans, J. Martin, and W. Dodd, of Auckland, with a total of 3191 J points. At a gathering this afternoon, the team was presented with the associations teams-of-four cup by Mrs F. C. Hutchison, wife of the president oftheWanga"'seSnd" place-getter, with 30564 points, was a Wellington team consisting of Dr. W J Hutch Eon and Mrs Hutchison Messrs R Stohr, and C. Wilson, third place went to Dr. R. McQuilkin, M. Shand, and Mesdames Hol .?. er Q^,n d^mT c ’ strong, of Christchurch, with 3020 points. Messrs G. F. Bailey, W. R. Hocking, Hodsdon, and Miss Davis, of Wellington, took fourth place, with 3001 points. Each player of the winning pairs in each session was presented with a double pack of cards. These winners were:— First Session.—N.S.: Mesdames Holder and Armstrong (Christchurch); E.W., Mrs Mclnnes and Mr Evans-Scott (Wellington). , , Second.—N.S.: Mr Knight and Mrs Salmon (Wanganui); E.W.: Dr. F. C. Hutchison and Mrs Knight (Wanganui). Third.—N.S.: Mesdames Taylor and Lipscombe (Auckland); E.W.: Dr. McQuilkin and Mrs Holder (Christchurch k Fourth.—N.S.: -Messrs Bliss and Orr (Whangarei); E.W.: Messrs Wilkinson and Schneiderman (Wellington). Fifth.—N.S.: Mrs H. O. Taylor and Miss McFarlane (Auckland); E.W.: Mesdames McMillan and Keenan (Auckland). The winners of the pairs championship cup, presented to the association by Mr Gordon Allard, have yet to be announced. Speakers at this afternoon's gathering included Dr. F. C. Hutchison, president of the Wanganui Club, Mr E. Tonks, of Auckland, retiring president of the New Zealand Association, and Mr Evans-Scott of Wellington, chairman of the national committee.
