TUNNEL ROAD BILL
PRESENTATION TO PARLIAMENT
The Tunnel Road Authority Bill will probably be presented to Parliament by the Mayor (Mr R. M. Macfarlane, M.P.), who said yesterday that before he left for England recently Mr W. S. Mac Gibbon, chairman of the Tunnel Road Promotion Committee, had asked him to handle th» bill. As a local bill, the bill will have to be examined by the Local Bills Committee of the House of Representa-n fives, and as it will be late in presentation, a special resolution of the House will be required to allow its presentation. The rules lay down that a bill must be in the hands of the committee about 60 days before the opening of the session, Mr Macfarlane said. Mr Macfarlane said that although he had received no official request, he thought it was desired to introduce the bill during the present session of Parliament, which will be resumed next month.
