MANAGING-EDITOR RETIRES (New Zealand press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, June 20. Mr R. H. Billens, who recently completed 60 years’ association with newspapers in New Zealand, has announced his retirement from the position of managing-editor of the “Manawatu Daily Times,” Palmerston North, from June 30. He has been managingeditor since 1921. . Mr Billens will be succeeded as editor by Mr D. A. Davies, who became acting editor when Mr Billens became seriously ill in January, 1954, and later was appointed associate editor. Mr E. R. Harris, formerly advertising manages and associate manager, who has been acting manager for the last 18 months, has been appointed manager, and Mr S. F. Prosser has been appointed advertising manager. Mr Billens will remain a member of the board of directon.
