1957 DOMINION TOURNAMENT
HOKOWHITU COURSE TO BE USED
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 27. The rival claims of Manawatu and Hawke’s Bay for the 1957 New Zealand golf championships were discussed by the Council of the New Zealand Golf Association today. The championships were allocated to Manawatu. The tournament will be held on the Manawatu Golf Club’s course at Hokowhitu.
Mr K. S. Glendining (ManawatuWanganui) said the Hokowhitu course was being greatly improved. Five new greens were being laid, and the length of the course would be 6800 yards. The council confirmed November 7-14 as the dates for the 1956 championships at Invercargill.
The council decided that one complimentary non-transferable ticket for admission to New Zealand championship games should be issued to each competitor. An earlier decision not to issue complimentary tickets was rescinded.
